The wall between Android and iOS is getting lower. Xiaomi’s HyperOS 4 is adding deep integration with Apple’s ecosystem, letting Xiaomi phones and iPhones work together in ways that were unthinkable a few years ago.
What the cross-system features do
- Share photos, files, contacts, and web pages directly between a Xiaomi phone and an iPhone
- View cloud photo albums on either device
- Real-time notifications with instant message replies across both ecosystems via two-way sync
- Mac and iPad owners can control their Xiaomi phone from the bigger screen using the Mi Connect Desktop app

- Debuted on: Xiaomi 18 Pro Max
- Wider rollout: expected October 15
- Requirements: Xiaomi’s connectivity app installed and a shared Xiaomi account on both sides
Why it matters
Ecosystem lock-in has always been Apple’s quiet superpower — leaving iPhone means leaving iMessage, AirDrop, and synced photos behind. By bridging that gap, Xiaomi is removing one of the biggest reasons people hesitate to switch, and putting pressure on the whole industry to play nicer across platforms.
