Apple has confirmed the smart home event that rumors pointed to in late September. On October 13, under the tagline “Welcome home,” the company is expected to unveil its biggest smart home push in years.
What’s expected
- HomePad / Home Hub: the long-rumored smart display with a 6-inch square screen, in two versions — one for desk or countertop use, one wall-mounted. The base has a built-in speaker, with the screen held up by a metal arm
- HomePod mini 2: the first update to Apple’s small speaker since 2020
- New Apple TV 4K: the first refresh since 2022
- All three are expected to support the new Siri AI
Why now
Apple has watched Amazon and Google own the smart home for a decade while its own efforts stayed fragmented. A dedicated event — rather than a footnote in an iPhone keynote — signals the company finally sees the home as a platform worth fighting for, with its new AI-powered Siri as the centerpiece.
The event is just days away, so the full picture — including pricing and availability — lands on October 13.
