Amazon UK’s Prime Big Deal Days has a curious gap: plenty of 2025 Galaxy flagships on sale, almost nothing from 2026. The Galaxy Z Flip8 isn’t even in stock on Amazon, while Samsung wants £1,150 for the base 12/256GB model. The Z Flip7 deal undercuts it by £450 — and the case for paying more is thin.
Flip7 vs Flip8: how different are they?
- Chipset: Exynos 2600 (new) vs Exynos 2500 (old) — but Samsung still hasn’t tamed thermal throttling
- Display brightness: 1,471 nits vs 1,470 nits measured — effectively identical
- Battery: 4,300mAh on both; the Flip8’s Si/C cell mainly cut the EPREL cycle rating from 2,000 to 1,200
- Endurance: Flip8 lasts longer (14:14h Active Use, +2h) thanks to the efficient chip
- Charging: 25W on both; Flip8 full charge 1:19h vs 1:31h
- Size: Flip8 is 0.6mm slimmer and 8g lighter when closed — side-by-side territory
The verdict
Unless you need the latest silicon, the 2025 model is the prudent buy. (The £500 Z Flip7 FE is cheaper still, but it’s essentially a reheated Z Flip6 — harder to recommend in 2026.)
